New work in Nature Genetics on how H3K27me3 spreading organises chromatin architecture

Our paper showing that H3K27me3 spreading organises canonical PRC1 chromatin architecture to regulate developmental programs is out in Nature Genetics.

Using chromatin conformation capture across glioma and other cancers, we found that confined H3K27me3 domains elevate canonical Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 looping at target genes, holding tumour cells in an undifferentiated progenitor state. The regulatory logic is conserved well beyond glioma, which makes it relevant to any cancer driver that alters how this mark spreads, including mutations found in leukaemias and lymphomas.
